Children are treated very differently today that Elizabethan times. Back then, women were not allowed to choose who they marry, as it was in the case of Juliet. Capulet and Paris were starting to arrange her marriage. Also, it was not looked upon as a bad thing to be a mother at a young age. In present day, being a mother at the age of 13 or 14 is frowned upon.

Yes, children are treated differently compared to Elizabethan times because children have more rights then back then. In scene two, where Capulet and Paris have a conversation about Juliet's marriage they are deciding her marriage without her opinions about the marriage. This tells how women and children did not have enough rights to do what they want.

The parents in the Elizabethan era treated their children very differently. Unlike now, children were just other people that they happened to give birth to. In Romeo and Juliet, Lady Capulet doesn’t even know when her daughter’s birthday is. Paris and Lord Capulet discuss Juliet’s marriage like she is an object that can be broken if she is made a mother so early in her life. Juliet is only thirteen; in today’s world, people wouldn’t even consider getting married at that age. It just goes to show you, our beliefs have changed about children throughout the years.

Children today are treated differently today than the Elizabethan times. This is because back then children where more controlled by adults and they were also much more guided with there decisions. For example there was a part in the story where Juliet’s mother tried to make her go to the party and talk to Paul, which in other words means that she wants her to get to know him and marry him as he wanted. But in response Juliet tells her mother that she will just look at him, and not marry him because she knows that if you look at someone then you don’t fall in love with them in an instant. It takes time and much more know about a person then just their physical appearance. But in our society our parents would not push you in any way to get married to anyone that you don’t feel comfortable to marry. Especially at the age of fourteen, like Juliet is.

Yes, children in modern times compared to children of Elizabethan times are treated differently. Then children were set into arranges marriages and most of the time had no say in it. Relationships today are more child to child instead of one attempting to win over the others parents just like Paris. Also women did not have the same rights or privledges as men back then.

Children are definitely treated differently today than they were in Elizabethan times. For example in Romeo and Juliet, Juliet was not even thirteen and yet her mother was trying to get her to marry. Her mother even said that when she was Juliet's age she was pregnant. These days a girl doesn't get married that early very often. Also it was perfectly normal for parents to arrange marriages and marrying for love was pretty rare. Today, at least in the United States it is the other way around.

Back in the Elizabethan times, children were treated very differently from today. The most important aspect that seems to stand out is that in Elizabethan times, children were eligible to marriage at the young age of 13 and even have children at that age. In Romeo and Juliet, Lord and Lady Capulet were planning on arranging a marriage for their daughter, Juliet. Lady Capulet also put out the fact that she gave birth to Juliet when she was 13 years old. Today, that does not remain a fact. Today, most places in the world require children and teenagers to receive a proper education until the age of 18. Yes, things in today’s time and Elizabethan times extremely contrasted.

Children are treated differently today as compared to Elizabethan times. Evidence for this can be seen in Romeo & Juliet as children are allowed to marry at young ages. Also, girls in Elizabethan times were expected to mature quickly as Juliet does, and girls have more time today to grow up. In general as well, it seems that children in Elizabethan times were not given as much respect. This can be seen in the relationship between Juliet and her mother, who sees Juliet as a symbol of her own stature.

Children in Elizabethan times were treated much differently then they are now. Back then, they were very much under the influence of their parents and for the most part had to listen to their parents. Women were also encouraged to get married and even have children as young as 13. It also seems as if the education required was more minimalistic than it is now. Also, marriages were often arranged. Paris was trying to arrange a marriage to Juliet by asking her father if it was okay to marry her.

Children are treated very differently today than they were in Elizabeth times. Back then, girls were expected to be married and in some cases have children by the age of 13 or 14. Today, having a baby as young as 13 or 14 is considered a very young age for a girl to give birth. Another example of this would be that during Elizabeth times, children were forced into arranged marriages by their parents. Today people chose the person in which they would like to be married to.

Children are treated much differently today then they were back in Elizabethan times. A good example of this is when Capulet and Paris are already talking about her getting marries when she only 13 years old. Many people not only got married at a young age back then, but they also became mothers to children as well. Young girls that become pregnant in our society are looked down on.

Children born today are treated different than those born in Elizabethan times. For example in "Romeo and Juliet," Juliet was raised by a nurse instead of her mother. That does happen sometimes today but, the child is normally raised by a part time nanny and isn't as extreme as it was in Elizabethan times. Juliet's own mother didn't know her age. Also, children were raised to think that marriage was acceptable at the age of thirteen or younger, as in Juliet's case, and that it was sometimes for money. Today children are taught that you marry when you love someone and only when or if you want to. In Elizabethan times children were treated as adults at a much younger age. Juliet is only thirteen but she is already feeling pressures about marriage from her mother, nurse, and the men who want to marry her. Today people do not feel that pressure until they are in their twenties, if they feel it at all. Children in the Elizabethan times were much different from children today.

Children today are treated much more diffently than those of Elizabethan times. Now, people have freedom of who they marry, it is not forced upon them in most situations. The people of taday heve to be about sixteen. It is looked upon as irresponsible and disgusting to be married at Juliets age which is thirteen and even worse to have children at Juliets age.

Children are treated differently in some ways today than they were back in Elizabethan time. One way, is they were treated like middle aged kind of, I think, mostly because the average age of death was so young, they had to mature quickly. Also, they were not treated much differently because it is like in human DNA that teens are rebellious, and they have hormones raging, so they weren't too different so parents

Children are treated very differently today than they were in the past. In Elizabethan times, parents cared more about themselves then their children whom they used primarily to get money or to establish a connection with important people. In the present day, the relationship between parent and child is different. Parents care very much about their children. They send them to school and pay for them to go to collage. In the time of Romeo and Juliet, parents didn’t even know how old their children were.

In today's time children are treated differently in a lot of ways. Some of them are you have to go to school in today's society and back then you didn't have too. Another difference is you can't really get married until your 18 and in back then you could get married whenever you wanted. Also back in those times women could not chose who they wanted to marry , but today you are free to marry whoever you like.

Yes children were treated very different in elizabethan times. Much more was expected from children. Most girls were forced into arranged marriages and soon after had babies. Today we pick whom we'd like to marry, and having babies at such a young age is not considered right.

Children in Elizebethan times were treated very differently than in modern times. The children could make little to no decisions on thier own. They were expected to marry at an early age, and women were expected to give birth. Today in society, giving birth at 13 and 14 years old is very uncommon. Looking at Juliet, its the same case. Her parents are trying to force her to be in love with and marry someone of thier choosing and not Juliet's. In today's time, children have a lot more choices that they can make on thier own.

Looking back in time and looking at the present time, it's very easy to see that how children are treated is very different. First, back then during the Elizabethan times, it was common for children, at the age of 15 or even younger, to be married, and even already have children, where as nowadays it's more common to get married at a much later age. In the play Romeo and Juliet, Juliet is getting pressured by her mother who wants her to get married even though she's only 13 years old. Also, back then, arranged marriages were common, but nowadays it's not very common. In the play, Capulet arranged Juliet's marriage with Paris, but only if Juliet agreed with it.

Children are treated very differently today then they were back then in the Elizabethan times. Children today have much more of a say in different discussions than they did in the Elizabethan times. Today most parents do not arrange their children’s marriages and people get married when they are older, were as back then it was more common for the parents to arrange the marriages and, like in "Romeo and Juliet", they were trying to get Juliet to marry at 13 years of age and were trying to arrange her marriage. Another aspect that differs from the Elizabethan times and today is the age at which one might get pregnant. Back then, like Lady Capulet, some women were pregnant around 13, and yes, that does happen today but not nearly as often and nor purpose like back then.

The difference between children today and children in Elizabethan times is mostly the age at which they are considered to be grown up. An example from Elizabethan times is that children or teenagers are expected to marry earlier in life, starting at age thirteen or even younger. Once they are married they are also expected to have children soon after. Now, it is not expected for children that young to be starting lives as spouses or parents. It is even somewhat discouraged against. And a parent’s decision counted for more when considering marriage. Also, education to children and teenagers did not seem to be as important to people back in Elizabethan times. If a girl is expected to be married and have children by age thirteen, she would not be expected to also go to school at the same time. Then, family and tradition seemed more important than education.

There is such a difference from Elizabethan Times and today when it comes to how children were treated. Today you are a child until you are 18. You live by your parents rules, try to do good in school, and most of all have fun in your short childhood life. In Elizabethan times you could be getting married by just the young age of fourteen! Woman were not even allowed to chose who they were to marry. In Romeo and Juliet, Capulet and Paris were beginning to arange a marriage with juliet, who was a young teenager. Also, in these old times it was seen as normal to be a mother at age 13 or 14. In present day to be a mother at such a young age is seen as unknowlageable and sad.

Children are treated differently today than in the Elizabethan times. The time that kids are kids is way longer now. In the Elizabethan times kids where expected to get married really young around 14 to 16 years old. Now people usually get married in there twenties or early thirties. Not only where they expected to get married that young, but they were expected to have children. Also, marriage wasn’t mostly about love then but more about where your money would be going. Now it is based more on love.

Yes, children from Elizabethan time were treated differently from children today. They didn’t have the rights and privileges children today have. For example, in the play Romeo and Juliet Lady Capulet (Juliet’s mother) is pressuring Juliet to marry Paris when she does not wish to marry anyone. Today children have their own rights and get to choose who they are friends and lovers with based on their decision on the other person.

Children are treated very differently today compared to Elizabethan times. Now there is not such an urge to get married. In older times, children would be expected to marry at early teenage years. In addition, there were a lot of arranged marriages in Elizabethan times. Now a days, people want to get married if they love each other, not if they want to combine too rich families. Children have much more say in things in this time period.

Back in the Elizabethan children were treated very differently from today. The greatest change that has occured over the many years is that, children were eligible to get married at the age of 13 or 14. Also at this age children were also allowed to become pregnant and start a family. In the novel Romeo and Juliet, the girls at age 13 were permitted to have children; but Juliet's mother also gives her the information that she gave birth to Juliet when she was 13 years old. As Juliet implied, she was ready to get married and was even thinking about it, so having a child was completely out of the question. So Juliet ignored what her mother said to her, and was happy with her own decisions. So you can see the difference between Elizabethan times and now. Today getting married and having a child especially under the age of 18, is looked down upon in an extreme way. The modern regulations and expectations that are enforced today have much more thought and experience behind them.

Children are definetly treated differently now than in Elizabethan times. Back then, chldren were expected to marry at an early age, and therefore had much more responsability. Now, children and teanagers have much less responsability to their parents at such an early age, and therefore the relationships between parents and their children are much more genuine, wheras in Elizabethan times, parents loved their children, but the relationship was much more formal and almost buisnesslike.

Children in Elizabethan times and children now are treated very differently. Children now do not usually get married or have kids, but children back then were pressured to do so. When Juliet’s mom says “younger than you, here in Verona, ladies of esteem, are made already mothers: by my count I was your mother much upon these years that you are now a maid.” Also, children in these days are not raised totally by a Nurse; they are raised with their family. Juliet’s mom didn’t even know how old she was until she asked the nurse. Another way that children are treated differently is that they usually aren’t allowed to walk around the streets by themselves, and their parents usually have more of an idea where they are. Like when Romeo’s mother says “Where is Romeo? Saw you him to-day? That is how children were treated differently in Elizabethan times.

Children play a much different role in families today. In Elizabethan times, it was very common to have your marriage arranged. People hardly got to marry someone they loved. In this case, Capulet is already starting to arrange plans for Juliet to marry Paris. Another big difference was pregnancy. Juliet's mother didn't care that she was only 13. She said to Juliet that she was pregnant at that age. She doesn't know the birthday of her daughter, either. People usually don't get pregnant before sixteen these days, but in Elizabethan times this was different. Juliet's mother and father seemed to have a major influence, almost too big of an influence, in Juliet's life. Today, at least in the United States, people have a lot more freedom, and are allowed to make more decisions for themselves.

Children in Elizabethan times were treated very differently than the children of today, back then they were expected to mature much faster, marry and have children at a much younger age. Evidence of this is when Juliet's mother is pressuring her to marry when she is only thirteen,to have children at that age in these times it is greatly discouraged.

I think the best answer for this question is yes and no. Of course alot of things have changed but the basic feelings are the same. We still love our parents and our parents love us. We still get in arguments and we are still the same overdrematic teenagers. The basics emotions are still the same but the reason we have those emotions have changed alot. Instead of being mad at our parents for grounding us for talking on the phone for a long time. We would be mad at our parents for making us get married when we are 12 or 14 years old. The reasons for why you get mad at your parents have changed and also why your parents love you. Instead of being happy that you got straight A's on your report card they would be proud of you for finding a good suitor. In conclusion I'm saying that we still feel the same emotions towards are parents and they still feel the same emotions towards us but the reasons for those emotions have changed and the setting they are in has also changed greatley.

Children are treated very differently today then they were in Elizabethan times. Today arranged marriage is much less common and marriage is more about spending your life with someone you love than keeping your family wealthy. Also it is really between the two people in love, rather than in Elizabethan times where the parents organized it. In Romeo and Juliet, marriage is almost arranged between Paris and Capulet for Juliet. Another thing is that marriage and pregnancy is expected at the age of 14 or younger. In today's society that would be frowned upon and unacceptable.

Children are treated differently today as compared to Elizabethan times. For one, children are not encouraged to get married at 14 years old, and especially not to have children as a teenager. In Elizabethan time that was considered normal. Also back then almost all marriages were arranged, especially for wealthy families so they made sure to keep their wealth, this was the case for Juliet who was suppose to marry Paris. As you can tell the times have changed drastically from Elizabethan times.

Children today are treated much differently than children during Elizabethan times. Children in Elizabethan times often had arranged marriages at young ages without any say in the matter. In scene two Capulet speaks of having Juliet married to Paris, he "gives her away" without putting any thought into her opinion and whether wants to marry raise a family with Paris or not. She is also only thirteen, a very young age for marriage and risky for childbirth, yet Juliet's parents are more than ready for being grandparents. In our modern society these sorts of things would be interpreted as bad, nowadays we usually let our children choose whom they would like to marry and marriages at young ages are uncommon and looked down upon.

Um, Romeo and Juliet are not historical figures. They are fictional characters and Shakespeare was writing a play about wealthy Italian families. Even among the nobility of Elizabethan England, brides 13 years of age were very rare; the vast majority of English brides then were at least 19 when they first married and a substantial minority of them were first married in their 30s and 40s.
In Shakespeare's source material, the poem by Arthur Brooke, Juliet is nearly 16 and Romeo is not much older and their courtship lasts for months.

As for children in Elizabethan England, they lived differently and were treated differently, but the feelings of parents for their children were fundamentally the same for contemporary parents; some parents were unfit (Frances Grey, the mother of Lady Jane Grey, was a monster) others loved and overindulged their children (Queen Katherine of Aragon adored and doted on Mary, her only surviving child), and the vast majority were between those two extremes. That as many as half of all children did not reach adulthood probably made parents love their surviving children all the more.
